Don’t forget where you came from and help anyone who wants out but don’t let anyone pull you back. If you come from a bad place, getting out it not a bad thing or at least it doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to look down on where you came from either. Once you have made it out, look back and see who you inspired. They are the ones you reach back and help.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is show others it is possible to do the impossible. Focus on those who want to do the same and give encouragement to the haters. They only hate because they are scared. Don’t take their crap but don’t give any back. Your peace is more important than their hate. You can’t help those who won’t do what they need to change yet complain about the same problems day in and out. Don’t keep those people company in the valley, just keep showing them the view from the top of the mountain. It’s up to them to climb.

Break the habit of thinking that what others say is your truth. It is THEIR truth and how they view the world but has nothing to do with you. The next time you catch yourself judging someone, ask yourself what you can learn about yourself because it is all about you too. We can always learn something about ourselves when we start to judge or say something bad about someone else and if you are smart you will reflect on this.

Want to live a happy life? Be successful? Don’t waste time thinking about what others say or judging them yourself. You can’t do two things at once (not these things anyway) and if you have to choose, always choose something for your better good. You only have this one life, how do you want to spend it?
money-is-only-a-tool-not-the-end-goal_small.jpg
Money is like air and food; we need it to survive, but it is only a tool. Your life and work should be about your end goal. Ask yourself what you end goal is and if you aren’t living it then make some changes. Do you think you are here to work and pay taxes? Do you want that to be your life? If your answer is no, find out how you can make your life the way you want to live.

People have this amazing ability to adapt and become versatile, but they have convinced themselves otherwise. You don’t have to live according to the dogma someone else invented, and it’s all invented. There is no set way to live your life; there may be consequences, but you are still the one who makes the choices. Own those choices and make sure you are happy with them or change. You can live with little money if you are willing to change your lifestyle. No more excuses about not having money. Either make more or live with less.

Having grown up in a culture where blaming everyone from your parents to the dog down the street for your unhappiness was normal, I have found the truth to be all inside of me. I am the only one who’s perspective on a situation I can change. I am the only one allowing the negative feelings vs. the positive ones. I am the only one who can change my mind about how I think about something.

Have you ever had a change of heart about something you felt about strong? In a way, it is the same only it is more of a conscious change. You just decide you are going to be happy, or you are not going to let a person or situation make you unhappy. It is that simple and difficult at the same time. Honestly, I now find it easy to decide to have happiness rule my day because I won’t allow any more unhappiness. It took some time, but I make that decision each morning before I get out of bed now. Does that mean everything is perfect? No, but my frame of mind is perfectly handling everything.

Do you have anything you would like to add or comments you would like to share? I would love to hear from you.

Koastal Kymmy ~ Having a “real job” means I can’t work in my jammies...so I blog ~
www.koastalkymmy.com

I admit that I sometimes have a tendency to procrastinate. I put thing upon thing upon item on my to-do list – because I can’t help but create work for myself 24/7, as I am an ultra Type A+ personality. However, when I do this, sometimes I even overwhelm myself – a trait that most people who know me say I do to them all the time, so I suppose it’s fair that I endure the same fate. When I’m having a moment, or a mini meltdown, sometimes just stare at the damn endless scroll of things I need to get to in the hopes that the items on it will somehow, miraculously take care of themselves. Then? I get overwhelmed.

Because I realize that there is so much to do and I just don’t know how I am going to get it all done.

So.

Naturally.

I don’t do a damn thing.

I just stare at the list.

You know, because THAT’S productive (note sarcasm).

Let’s take today and my laundry, for example. This laundry has been clean for round about three days now. I know that I need to put it away, but I just haven’t done it. t has found a home in this chair.

Eventually, it will move to the couch as I tell myself I will fold it whilst watching the latest in my five a day guilty pleasure mini episode-thon of “How I Met Your Mother”.

Then, some of it will get folded and will move to this chair.

After celebrating this little win, a day or two later, the self-same laundry will find it’s way to this bed – that I haven’t made because I was too busy feeling overwhelmed by all of the other shit that I have to do.

Eventually, at some point, it will find it’s way into a drawer or onto a hangar. When I get around to putting it there.

But it’s still a mess.

Which got me to thinking:

When it comes to life’s little messes, when it comes to all of the things you know you have to do or deal with, are you dealing with them in a timely manner or are you just moving your mess?

Thankfully, it is in these moments where we might (if we are lucky) have a little clarity. As we sit on our butts and stare at our to do list, we might just find ourselves texting a friend and discussing how unmotivated we are, and how we are overwhelmed with the phone ringing off the hook or the bazillion text messages or the hundreds of inbox messages that we haven’t gotten to yet today because….well….there is just too much of it for one person to handle.

And, our friend (if they are really our friend that is) will give us some good advice; advice that will motivate us to get off our butt, get our shit together, put things away, hang up the laundry and just do exactly what we need to do for that day. Because that’s how we eat an elephant…one bite at a time.

Honestly, I think we all have days like today.

And it’s on those days that we get by with a little help from our friends.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some laundry to fold.

As we shut the books on January yesterday, we ended the first 31 days of our Accounabilabet. It was also quite the momentous day, because it was the day that Mike realized just how he was going to loose.

Which was, of course, the inspiration behind this particular Facebook update….an update he made whilst seated across the table from yours truly, as I was going into great detail about my plan of action; a plan that can’t fail; a plan designed and destined to beat him.

But, you know, I’m a nice gal and all. I’m not going to leave the dude high and dry….so, I offered to lend him a hand – I mean, not even I like to see someone get their ass handed to them over and over and over (you get the idea). So my value proposition was as such:

What if I build you a monetized blog, with all of the pages and information you need in order to be successful…so that we have an equal playing field?

Of course, the loser-to-be-announced later, enthusiastically agreed.

Which led to THIS status (also made while sitting across the table from the 2016 Networker of the Year):

And, in case you were wondering, the winner for the month of January (drumroll please), the person who generated the most passive and active income…..was me. But hey, good old Mikey still has 11 months to try and catch up.

So, which team are you on? Are you Team Mike or Team Shauna? Who do YOU think will take the prize…and why?

Weigh in by leaving us a comment!

And, of course, if you like this blog, please share it so other people can participate in the first ever Accountabilabet in history.

As of about seven days ago we have a swear jar.

No, this was not my idea.

Yes, I hate it.

I think it is the dumbest f**king thing I have ever seen with both of my f**king eyes in all of my entire f**king life.

Why?

Because, for as long as I can remember I have been an intelligent, well-read and well-rounded woman who has a particular talent for weaving profanity into a tapestry of brilliance – in my own mind anyway --, which is the longer way of saying, “Because I cuss…a lot.”

While I might be rather progressive when it comes to relationships – and the roles people play in them --, I am old fashioned when it comes to doing things for the man that will make him happy. And what would make him happy (and, frankly the right thing to do) is set a better example for my daughter. So, I will unabashedly follow his lead -- because, as much as I hate to admit it, he is right...just don't tell him I said that -- as he is the head of the household, and because I respect him so much.

Although his latest brilliant idea? Not my &(#@$& favorite. (Old habits die hard)

Upon agreeing to said swear jar from Hades, I created a status update on Facebook and Twitter that read (I’m paraphrasing), “A swear jar? I’ll be broke by the end of the month….okay, okay…..week…..okay, okay…..day……okay, okay….hour.”

Even though I’m not broke (YET), I do feel a little lighter in my pockets since that evil little jar (I am pretty sure it is possessed by the devil or something) made its way into our humble home. Because, in all honesty, knowing it's there, lights a fire in my own rebellious nature to want to curse even MORE.

I can't win for losing.

In less than 7 days that &^^%$%# jar has swallowed $17.20 of my (*&(*^&^$^ hard earned %^&$%$@ money. If it was a human being, I would punch it in the *(&*&%#@$ face.

Hard.

And while you might think that there is some hefty penalty for each curse word that finds its way from my lips to God’s ears, it’s not. It’s a paltry 10 cents per swear.

I told you I *(&*&%%$ curse a lot.

So, basically, I just front-loaded the jar with $20 and will fill the rest up with IOU’s until the end of the month. Kind of like how the government treats social security.-- I'm kidding....kind of.

Why?

Because I &*%&^%#$&^ despise that (*&%&^$^%*( little jar of ^&^$%#^&( mockery that has now quickly become the bane of my existence and somehow feel an innate need to punish the little &*$!@# thing.

That’s &*(^*&%#$ why.

*(()&(*^&%^^(&*) Yours,

Miss Adventures

It all started as a simple (how did he put it again?) Mastermind Luncheon at a little place inside of a hustling and bustling shopping center…a few days before Christmas. Little did I know that this simple Mastermind Luncheon would turn into an accountabila-bet.

What the heck is an “accountabilia-bet,” you ask?

It’s a bet you make with someone else where the means to an end is holding the other accountable. Ha! See what I did there?

--Cut me some slack, satire isn’t always easy to write.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like you to meet my highly unorthodox accountability partner. His name is Mike. Mike is one of my very best friends in this entire world. He is also a huge pain in my ass….but that is another story for another day.

Meet Mike
I’ve known Mike for round about three years now. We began talking as I was doing a hefty content marketing push a few years ago (yes, for a blog…this one), and we have been friends and business associates ever since. What Mike brings to the table is a sense of humor, a joyous attitude about life and is always high energy, upbeat and full of….ideas – yeah, we will go with ideas…for now. Whereas I, on the other hand, bring my clear-cut, regimented, Anglo Saxon, Viking-like attitude of badassery and kick ass organizational effiiency to the table.

In short, where I lack vision, he has it. Where he lacks follow through, I have it.

Dynamite team, no?

And while we often use our powers for good – well, probably he more than I – we also realized (long ago) the value of challenging one another, and holding one another accountable to what we say we are going to do.

After all, we are all masters of justifying our own bullshit. Myself included.

So, we figured, what better way to hold one another accountable for an entire year than a bet to end all bets?

Here’s how this went down….
“So, what’s the bet for 2015?” He asked.

I smirked and replied, “Whoever makes the most active and passive income for the year, wins. Here are the parameters: Monthly earnings statements from all sources, both passive and active. I’ll track it, because, well…I know you won’t. Then, at the end of the year, we tally up the totals and whoever makes the most….wins. Whoever comes in second, is the first to lose.”

“Deal, but what does the winner get?” He inquired.

I cocked my head to the side and squinted my eyes a little – a common tic of mine when pondering some of the deepest questions of the Universe, planning a hostile takeover of the planet, or if I haven’t had enough fiber – and suddenly it hit me.

I continued, “Well, it’s gotta hurt. And since we BOTH hate people (maybe not all people, but at least asshole people), the loser has to attend one networking event per week. Two can be anything you want, but one has to be full of people we don’t like, and another has to be one the loser personally hosts.”

Nodding in agreement, we shook on it…and the accountabili-bet for 2015 was born.

You might ask, “How does attending events that will build your career become a losing situation?” Well, in old-school, old-mindset San Antonio, it really doesn’t. That’s what people here “like”. However, the time spent at these trite events (where, let’s face it, most folks only go to get liquored up anyway) takes away from the time we could be developing things that work on a national scale: blogs, e-books, videos, webinars…you get the idea. So, for us, it’s a punishment. All of the time and energy taken into fueling these things takes away from what we know will actually build our business on a larger scale. So how is it a loss? It’s going to be the most time consuming thing for the loser in 2016, allowing the winner (me) to continue building things, setting trends and forging forward, while the loser (Mike) eats my dust.

--Not that I already have a plan or anything…

Okay....I totally have a plan. --

Yet, the entire idea behind “The Bet” is a little more complex than just winning or losing. It’s more about having that one person who will hold your feet to the fire and keep your accountable to what you say you are going to do.

It’s a lot like having a workout partner at the gym. Important, right? Same idea. You are more inclined to show up and get a work out in if you know someone else is depending on you, counting on you; you are less likely to make up excuses. Get the idea?

Who are you holding accountable for 2015? Better yet, who is holding YOU accountable? And what are you willing to suffer through to reach your goals?

If I am willing to suffer through networking events – won’t happen, but still --, think about the one thing you would hate to do if you were to make a bet such as this…and lose, and make that your “pain” or “punishment” if you don’t accomplish your goals for the year. Believe it or not, attaching pain to failure helps you keep your goals more attainable, realistic and measurable – the recipe for all great goals, really.

But what happens next?

At the end of each month we will be posting the stats for the loser and the winner, so you can track the progress along with us.

Just promise me one thing. Don’t be too hard on poor Mike. He’s fragile. (Again, satire. Calm down folks.)

Miss Adventures
