I admit, romantic movies, comedies, books --and the like--
set us females up for failure from a very young age, but I’m going to let you
guys in on something that you might not know about every female in your life…whether
you know it or not. They want “that” moment.
Picture this: You go to a movie with your girl. It’s (dun
dun dun) a romantic flick. In said romantic flick, guy and girl meet cute, have
a whirlwind time together and you can tell they are in love…but both are too
chicken to say so. Eventually this ends up in an argument of Titanic proportions
and sad musical montage enters, stage left. Said guy and said girl go their
separate ways. Then, said guy and said girl take a ‘hiatus’. During said ‘hiatus’
it becomes crystal clear to the audience that both lead man and leading lady
are miserable without the other; that both are incredibly wrong and someone
needs to fix it…post haste even. Because, quite frankly, no one else can take
the same place in their hearts (or lives) that, that one single person can.
Then, one of the duo has an awakening; a moment where he
chases her down the street in the rain, a moment where he tells her to go, but peppers
in how afraid he is to lose her, a moment where she says she screwed up, she’s
sorry and that she will never do it again. The moment where he surprises her
with plane tickets. The moment where the unexpected marriage proposal happens.
The moment where that ever resounding “I love you” flies off of the lips of
one character in favor of the other; that moment where they both just “get it”
for the first time, and (as far as we know) the last one.
Well…women want THAT.
Every woman you have ever met in your entire life, ice
princess or not, wants that one moment, just once. She wants that page in her
novel, she wants that section in her short story, she wants that single,
fleeting moment that will last her for the rest of her life. Because underneath
all the layers of fluff, of hardness, the difficulty, all women are true
romantics at heart. And once you have her heart…you have it all.
And she’s relying on you to give it back to her.
So what are you waiting for?
